Dear Parent/Carer,

Further to my communications in April and July of last year and article in Headline a few weeks ago, we are now launching our School Fund for voluntary donations to Ilkley Grammar School.

As you are aware, the school is constantly striving to provide the highest level of education for the young people of Ilkley and its surrounding areas and has a valued place at the heart of the local community. However, changes to funding in education is making this task increasingly difficult.

I am therefore writing this letter to every registered parent/carer to ask for your support. We hope that we can raise our annual target of £75,000 - a sum which we believe will enable us to continue to provide our existing wide and varied educational provision.

I am aware that this request comes as we approach Christmas, as well as relatively near the start of the academic year, when I know we already ask you to pay for other items as well as the ongoing donations for iPads.  However, following last week’s Autumn Statement, where no additional funding for education was pledged, we have now reached the point where it is imperative that we raise funds as a school, in order to avoid having to cut the breadth of our provision.

The scheme is entirely voluntary but we very much hope that many families will choose to contribute, and there are several suggested levels per family at which you can donate. However, any donation amount, no matter how small or large and however frequently made, will be very gratefully received.

Donations can be made either by monthly direct debit through our website or on ParentPay, where one off donations of any amount can also be made at your convenience, for example, when you top up your dinner money account.

Please be aware, that as an Academy Trust, we are a charity and are therefore also able to reclaim gift aid on all eligible donations made at no additional cost to you. So for example, a £100 donation would actually mean £125 being received by the school.
