Psychology and Sociology is taught at 'A' Level and the main aim in the Psychology/Sociology department is to provide students with an enjoyable and exciting learning experience that encourages independence and prepares students for next step be it Higher Education or Work. Psychology and Sociology A levels compliment a range of other A level subjects and can be taken alongside both Science based or arts and other humanities subjects. As well as learning a new subject, students also develop skills such as independence, collaboration and self reflection to prepare them for life beyond post-16.The department prides itself on gaining consistently high raw and value added results which are above the national and school average.
Each class receives 10 hours of lesson time per subject per teaching cycle (over a 2 week period). We currently have 4 AS groups and 3 A2 groups in Psychology and 2 AS groups and 2 A2 groups in Sociology. All groups are mixed ability.
