Physical Education

The PE Department consists of ten PE specialists, combining youth with experience! The facilities include a gymnasium, sports hall, swimming pool, and three hard court areas on site. Our grass pitches are a short distance from the school and groups are transported there by bus. We make use of the local amenities - Ben Rhydding Club's AstroTurf pitch and the moors, and we also have strong links with all the main sports clubs in the area.

All the major sports are taught in KS3, with development then in KS4 for other minority sports and options such as squash and canoeing. All students are taught in mixed ability groupings and have the national recommended time allocation for PE. Recreation and Leisure sessions are also included at Post16 and we offer pre GCSE PE in Year 9 as well as examination courses at GCSE and A Level. A full extra-curricular programme is available to all students - as a pathway for the elite, or simply as a way of enjoying sport.
